10 Most Underrated 2000s Horror Movies

1. Behind The Mask: The Rise Of Leslie Vernon

The Burrowers
Anchor Bay Entertainment

I lied, there's another found footage movie on this list - but it's one that's such good fun for genre enthusiasts that it shouldn't be viewed as any less for being so. Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon is the documentary-style adventures of one normal man who aspires to be one of the great slasher villains of his time, taking inspiration from names like Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, and Michael Myers as he attempts to quite literally carve himself a legacy. And in this world, slashers are all too real, so we're treated to a myriad of references as Leslie goes about his bloody business.

Behind the Mask is just a strangely good time considering its brutal subject matter - dissecting the slasher genre with ease as it moves through its ridiculous premise. We've seen plenty of wannabes and copycat killers in movies throughout the years, but never quite from this perspective, and never quite with this much love.
