10 Most Underrated Harry Potter Characters
8. Cedric Diggory
Throughout Harry Potter there were many devastating deaths, but Cedric’s ranks as one of the most tragic.
To begin with, Harry was not fond of his fellow Triwizard competitor, as the majority of Hogwarts students favoured Cedric in the tournament. This, in tandem with Cedric taking Cho Chang to the Yule Ball, made Harry bitterly resentful.
Yet this turned out to be a misguided view. Cedric demonstrated his noble side when he offered Harry essential advice for the second task of the tournament, and his decision to not take the Triwizard Cup for himself when he had every opportunity to do so was a remarkably selfless act.
Said acts made his death deeply impactful, and the emotional heft of his loss was heightened further by both his age and his father’s reaction. However, given the amount of primary character deaths in the final three novels, Cedric is too frequently forgotten.
