10 Most Underrated Harry Potter Characters
7. Ginny Weasley
Those who only experienced Ginny Weasley via the movies felt an understandable sense of confusion at her relationship with Harry, for the pair appeared to have little chemistry together. Though Bonnie Wright’s performance was perfectly adequate, the script did not capture the essence of what made Rowling’s original version so captivating.
In the latter half of the series, Ginny proved to be a most gifted witch. Her magical abilities were brought to the forefront as a member of Dumbledore’s Army, and she proved more than capable during the climactic battle in the Department of Mysteries. Indeed, her prowess at the Reductor Curse was unmatched.
She showed an equal level of talent on the Quidditch pitch as well. Though the movies almost entirely ignored this aspect of Ginny, in the books she filled in for Harry more than once as Seeker, and managed to beat the opposing Seeker every time, helping Gryffindor win the Quidditch Cup on a number of occasions.
It’s a shame Ginny wasn’t fleshed out enough in the movies, because if she had have been, she would be held in much higher esteem.
