10 Most Underrated Harry Potter Characters

6. Viktor Krum

Viktor Krum is a great example of Rowling’s knack for authentically subverting expectations.

As both the most famous Quidditch player in the world and a Triwizard champion, the natural blueprint for Krum’s personality would have been the egotistical sportsman. However, Krum turned out to be the exact opposite.

Far from relishing in his fame, he spent almost all his time at Hogwarts in the library. It was here that he met Hermione, and whatever Ron may have thought about the two of them as a couple, their relationship was genuinely sweet, as well as being a central aspect of Hermione’s overall character development.

Given that he only featured in The Goblet of Fire (aside from a brief appearance in The Deathly Hallows), it’s understandable why Krum can often be forgotten. Yet his talent and modesty make him an unquestionably intriguing character.
