10 Most Underrated Harry Potter Characters
5. Barty Crouch Junior
Barty Crouch Junior is an often-overlooked villain. Though only featured in The Goblet of Fire, Crouch proved invaluable to Lord Voldemort, managing to fool even Dumbledore.
Along with Bellatrix Lestrange, he was imprisoned in Azkaban for one of the most infamous crimes in the magical community – the torture of Frank and Alice Longbottom. With the help of his distraught mother and his ashamed father, Crouch escaped the infamous prison, and was then placed under his father's Imperious Curse.
However, after battling against said curse, he managed to escape and contact his old master. Disguised as Mad-Eye Moody, Crouch then manipulated the Triwizard Tournament so as to lead Harry to the Triwizard Cup, which he had cleverly turned into a portkey.
In essence, Crouch’s intellect and loyalty to Voldemort was unmatched amongst his fellow Death Eaters (apart from arguably Bellatrix), and as such, he was one of the best villains in the series.
