3. Luna Comforts Harry – The Order Of The Phoenix
Harry doesn’t enjoy his fifth year at Hogwarts. Thanks to the lies of the Daily Prophet, most of the students think he’s an attention-seeking liar, and he also has to deal with the antics of Professor Umbridge.
One morning, Harry takes a stroll through the grounds and stumbles across Luna. Though the two of them have met before, this is their first proper conversation.
Luna comforts Harry and encourages him to stick with his friends in these dark times. It’s a tender scene that avoids feeling cheesy thanks to the performance of Evanna Lynch. She captures a kind, honest, and strange personality of Luna and delivers her lines in an irresistibly charming manner. Harry – despite his troubled circumstances – can’t help but smile as he listens to Luna.
This scene is another example of the movies adding to Rowling’s material. In the book, Harry doesn’t have a heart-to-heart conversation with Luna until the end of the year. But by adding in this little exchange, the audience falls in love with Luna much earlier.
