10 Most Underrated Horror Movies Of 2019

3. In Fabric

If you ask me, there aren't enough movies about killer dresses. And I don't mean movies about people serving Hashtag Looks (as Phantom Thread has that covered), I mean actual pieces of clothing that are sentient enough to kill whoever is wearing them.

Thankfully, of the few of these that do exist, this year's In Fabric is easily the best one. Peter Strickland's horror wears its Suspiria influences on its sleeve, both in its aesthetic and soundtrack, but it's much more tongue in cheek.

This is about a regular British town, full of regular British people, that just so happens to feature a department store run by Gothic European Sexy Witches (aka the best kind of witches).

In that way it feels very much in line with something like The League of Gentlemen, blending reality and unreality to shock and delight in equal measure.

Also, it features the scariest wank I've seen in 2019. And High Life came out this year. Make of that what you will.
