1. Steve Reunites With Agent Carter - Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Following on from the mildly heartbreaking ending of Captain America where Steve realised he was going to be seventy years late for his date with Agent Carter, The Winter Soldier shows the emotional reunion between the two former love interests.
Peggy is now an elderly woman confined to bed, and there’s a real air of regret while the two of them talk about how things have turned out. Hayley Atwell’s old age make-up isn’t entirely convincing, but the emotion she brings to the scene is what really matters.
Her breakdown upon seeing Steve again at the end of the scene is a moment that hits the audience right in the feels, and underlines just how out of time he is and how much he's sacrificed to keep the world safe. Again it’s a small moment in a movie filled with lots of big ones, but it does wonders in terms of Captain America’s development as a character.
