10 Most Underrated Movies Of The 2010s

6. The Gift

Edge Of Tomorrow
STX Entertainment

At a time when cinemas were constantly filled with simple variations of the 'home invasion' subgenre, this thriller's marketing didn't do it any favors.

What might appear on the surface to be just another thriller is actually way more unsettling. Focusing on a married couple, played by Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall, who has a run-in with a figure from their past, the film may start off as a fairly typical thriller but evolves into something far more sinister.

Chock-full of twists and turns along the way, the film's strength comes from its wonderful performances and grounded, relatable writing which might find viewers seeing a bit more of themselves in the characters than they would like to.

It's understandably hard to explain what makes the film so effective without spoiling some of its best moments and that is the exact issue the marketing for the film faced. Rather than spoiling the film, they sold it as a more traditional approach to the genre. Sadly, many movie-goers skipped this one thinking that that was all there was to it.
