10 Most Underrated Scenes In Star Wars

1. The Cave

If there's one scene that sticks out within the entire original trilogy, it's this one. While training on Dagobah under the tutelage of Yoda, Luke notices a cave nearby the seems to be drawing him in. Upon entry, Luke finds Darth Vader - they do battle, and Luke removes Vader's head with his lightsaber. The mask blows off the severed head, revealing Luke's own face. It's an odd touch, an instance of surrealism that is left open to interpretation - is it a dream? A projection of Yoda's? Is the cave a place where peoples' nightmares are made flesh? - in direct opposition to what is otherwise a very literally-told tale. And yet what makes the scene so fascinating is that very thing that leaves it at odds with the rest of the trilogy: each viewer watching it will take a different meaning from it, in effect making this scene The Empire Strikes Back's very own Rorschach Test.
