10 Most Underwhelming Horror Movie Monster Reveals
8. The Killer - Split Second
Split Second from 1992 has one of the most eclectic cast lists in horror movie histories, as it stars everyone from Blade Runner’s Rutger Hauer to Sex and the City’s Kim Cattrall to Ian Drury, lead singer of new wave band The Blockheads.
Set in the far-flung future of 2008, Split Second imagines a world where climate change has flooded large parts of London. Two police officers are tasked with chasing down a serial killer, who murders in accordance with the lunar cycle and can seemingly absorb the DNA of their victims. The killer also has a psychic connection with one of the cops, just to make things even more difficult.
Stone, the officer in question, is taunted by the killer, who had previously murdered his ex-partner. You think this is leading to some clever reveal where the suspect is someone from Stone’s past or something, but nope. The killer is just a generic demon thing that lives in the flooded Underground tunnels.
Split Second was setting up something big, but decided to go down a painfully cliched route instead, which drained it of any intrigue or tension.
