While UN investigator, Gerry Lane, is stuck in heavy traffic with his family, the city is suddenly overrun by zombies. After Gerry abandons his vehicle and runs away with his wife and daughters, he notices a man on the road being bitten by one of these savages.

At first, the man lies motionless on the ground. But after a few seconds, he begins contorting his body with inhuman vigour before leaping back onto his feet. After the camera zooms in on his face to show all humanity has exited his body, he begins launching his body at passerbys and slamming his head into vehicles.
