10 Most Unexpected Transformations In Zombie Movies

Resident Evil follows a military unit who are tasked with investigating a research facility run by the pharmaceutical company, Umbrella. When they arrive, they discover a secret underground complex, overrun with zombies (and lots of lasers). When one of these nasty critters takes a bite out of the commando, Rain Ocampo, she knows her fate is sealed.

Although she strongly considers killing herself, Rain changes her mind at the last second, believing she can still be useful to the mission before she transforms.

In the climax, Alice, Matt, and Rain battle a monstrously sized Licker while on a train. After Alice uses a pole to impale the beast's tongue to the ground, she orders Matt to kill it.

But just as he's about to shoot the Licker, Rain turns into a zombie, and attacks Matt. (Seriously, the timing couldn't have been worse.) Because of the high stakes and chaotic action in this scene, you momentarily forget Rain is infected. In fact, you get so invested in the confrontation, you completely forget Rain is there, which makes her zombification all the more unexpected.
