10 Most Unexpected Transformations In Zombie Movies

5. Ben - Night Of The Living Dead (Remake)

Overlord movie
Columbia Pictures

Like its predecessor, Tom Savini's remake of Night of the Living Dead revolves around a group hiding from zombies in a cabin. Our hero, Ben, insists the group board up all the windows and doors, while another survivor called Harry insists they hide in the cellar.

Over time, Ben and Harry's relationship becomes so hostile, they start shooting at each other, causing Ben to suffer a serious wound on his chest. Taking refuge in the cellar, Ben discovers a key for the vehicle outside, which can take everyone to safety. But before we see what Ben does, the scene fades to black.

Shortly after, we cut to the following morning, where the locals have rescued the surviving members of the group. As they break down the cellar door, we're praying Ben has recovered from his injury, considering he did everything in his power to keep everybody safe.

But when the door opens, we see Ben has succumbed to his wound, and has transformed into a zombie. As horrifying as this reveal is, it's the way Ben's reanimated corpse suddenly pops into view that catches us off-guard.
