The Girl with All the Gifts takes place in a world where most of humanity has been infected with a fungus, transforming people into flesh-craving creatures called Hungries. Although children born into this ravaged world seem normal at first, they become brutish cannibals if exposed to bodily fluids like sweat, spit, or blood.
