10 Most Unlikely Duos In Horror Movies

6. Jerry & Ed - Fright Night (2011)

Few pairings are more improbable than handsome, broody Colin Farrell and white-and-nerdy Christopher Mintz-Plasse, but that is precisely what Craig Gillespie and Marti Noxon served up in their 2011 remake of Tom Holland's supernatural horror classic Fright Night (1985).

Set in the suburbs of Vegas -- as strange a setting for a vampire movie as possible -- Anton Yelchin stars as Charley Brewster, a teenager with a deeply uncool best friend in "Evil Ed" Lee (Mintz-Plasse) and a new next door neighbour with a dark secret, Jerry Dandrige (Farrell). Charley disregards Ed's claims that there are vampires in the neighbourhood, and, wouldn't you know it, Ed gets bitten and becomes Jerry's new sidekick.

The pair team up to take on Charley, his mother, his girlfriend and, well David Tennant (as Vegas conjurer Peter Vincent). Add to this that Fright Night came along at a time when Colin Farrell was best known for playing hunky action men and Christopher Mintz-Plasse was trying to shake off his McLovin typecasting by playing... a vampire McLovin, and it's all the more baffling.

As brief as it may have been, this is a pairing we'll not soon forget.
