10 Most Unlikely Duos In Horror Movies

5. Billy & Stu - Scream (1996)

Death Becomes Her
Dimension Films

The original and the best, 1996's Scream changed the slasher genre, as well as the broader horror movie landscape for good, ushering in an era of metafiction the ripples of which are still visible in cinema today.

At the centre of the cultural swarm are Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) and Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard), a pair of seemingly average US high-school students from the fictional town of Woodsboro. Stu is the class clown, harmless and dumb; Billy the dark misfit who, despite his friends and close connection to Sidney (Neve Campbell) -- the girl being hunted by Woodsboro's ghostface killer -- is suspect number one as soon as the blood starts flowing.

It is one of the greatest surprises of modern cinema, then, to discover that Billy and Stu have been in it together all along, hatching a devious plan and hacking away at the town's teen population. As unlikely a team up as this is, the pair took the horror world by storm, and their psychotic bromance has indubitably been the subject of many a mid-90s slash fiction (see what we did there).
