10 Most Unlikely Duos In Horror Movies
2. Tallahassee & Columbus - Zombieland (2009)
Ruben Fleischer's Zombieland is a horror movie, an action movie, a comedy movie, a road movie and a buddy movie all rolled into one -- and that's what makes it so damn rewatchable.
Always teetering on the edge of nail-biting horror scares, Zombieland nonetheless stays the course and provides the kind of compelling characters and life-saving situations that your run of the mill zombie apocalypse feature typically sacrifices in the name of a few gruesome kills.
At the heart of all this (s)laughter-based carnage are the unlikeliest pair of heroes in Woody Harrelson's buff, tough, rough and ready cowboy killer Tallahassee, and Jesse Eisenberg's weedy, obsessive-compulsive ex-college student Columbus. While both actors are definitely playing to type, it was a stroke of luck that someone had the wherewithal to give them so much shared time together on screen.
Where Tallahassee is motivated by monster trucks and machine guns, Columbus is obsessed with safety and routine. One is yin, the other yang; and, like Mini Me and Dr Evil, they kind of complete each other. Chemistry like this simply can't be cooked up in a lab.
