10 Most Unlikely Duos In Horror Movies
3. Kyle & Sarah - The Terminator (1984)
Given the action movie credentials of the Terminator series at large, we may be forgiven for occasionally forgetting that James Cameron's 1984 original was a horror flick.
That's right, when Arnold Schwarzenegger's cyborg assassin, the T-800, travels back in time to assassinate Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), the mother of future revolutionary fighter John Connor, he does so armed with a litany of horror visuals, set against a backdrop of classic horror tropes. Certainly, some of the images from the factory face-off in the film's final sequence were greater nightmare fuel than other bona fide horror releases, such as Cameron's 1986 Aliens.
Michael Biehn plays Kyle Reese, a tough-as-nails soldier sent back from 2029 to protect Sarah from this monster, and the pair team up to take him on. Sarah is Kyle's opposite in every way, naive as she is to the world of combat, dystopian futures and killer robots, but that's not the main reason why they make an unlikely duo. Every law of physics suggests they should never have met at all.
Sarah succumbs to cancer in either the '90s or the '00s, depending on the timeline -- so, quite simply, a man born after Sarah Connor's death should never have been able to buddy up with her to fight the big bad, never mind do the dirty.
