As one of the most sequel-ised subgenres, horror thrives on repetition. From A Nightmare on Elm Street's Nancy to Halloween's Laurie Strode, it's not unusual for the final girl to have multiple encounters with their big bad slasher villain. Few final girls, however, have had to do it as many times as Scream's Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell).

Returning for a fifth time in this year's franchise reboot, Sidney has faced Ghostface, his co-conspirators and his imitators time and time again. And, unlike Laurie and Nancy, it's a different one each time - usually with close ties to Sidney's own life.

The first time, the killer was her own boyfriend. And, even when the killer isn't a loved or trusted one? He (or she) is going after her friends and family. Even before the events of Scream, Sidney hadn't had an easy life - her mother being killed by a serial killer while she was still a child.
