The importance of strong educational authority figures has never been more important than it is in our current day. Having dedicated professionals determined to shape our future leaders is an essential building block for our society. One such example of this dedicated professional is none other than the Dean of Glenbrook North High School, Edward R. Rooney.

Unfortunately this stoic and hard working leader is made to look like the bad guy in the 1985 film Ferris Bueller's Day Off, despite doing nothing more than completing his job to the best of his ability. The titular character clearly has some truancy issues and any chance of getting him on the 'straight and narrow' before the end of his senior year can only happen with urgent intervention from the likes of Rooney.

Rooney is so committed to getting young Bueller back on the right track that he visits his home personally, and is punched in the face for his troubles. His efforts seemed to have paid off when he catches Ferris in the act of wagging, but he is then blackmailed by Ferris' sister, the previously well behaved Jeanie.

The poor old Dean is then attacked by a dog, before facing the indignity of having to travel on the school bus with his students just to get home. It is the end of a harrowing journey for the dedicated professional, who we can only hope was not totally disenfranchised by his run in with one particularly misbehaving student.

While he likes to know himself as the 'thunder from down under', Luke is actually just a big dork who loves all things sport, film, James Bond, Doctor Who and Karaoke. With all the suave and sophistication of any Aussie half way through a slab, Luke will critique every minute detail of films and shows from all eras- unless it's 1990's Simpsons episodes, because they're just perfect
