10 Most Unnecessarily Hated Characters In Film History

2. Dwayne T. Robinson - Die Hard

Hans Gruber is rightfully praised as one of cinema's great action villains, and his gang of militants rank as some of the toughest henchmen produced in film. They are effective as villains as they are so determined, so efficient, and so very happy to brutally murder a number of innocent people to achieve their goals.

One character who is unfairly thrown into the mix as a 'villain' in this iconic film is Deputy Police Chief Dwayne T. Robinson. Taking control of a significant situation after one of his men was fired upon in the line of duty, Robinson immediately sets about taking down the man responsible.

Robinson rightfully takes reports from the man responsible for shooting at his officer with a grain of salt, rightfully surmising that he could be the sole terrorist involved. Without wanting to wait for innocents to die because of his inaction, Robinson sends in his best men to infiltrate the facility, sparing no expense in doing so.

Yes, he probably could have chosen a better time to address McClane about his destruction of a city building, the guy clearly needing some urgent medical attention at the film's conclusion. By no means are we even going to joke that McClane's actions were anything but heroic and perfect in the circumstances, but Robinson shouldn't be hated for making reasonable if inaccurate assumptions.
