10 Most Unnecessary Film Sequels Of 2016

8. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny

Release Date: February 26, 2016 Weird one, this. Netflix began their foray into original movies in 2015 with the wonderful Beasts Of No Nation and the not-so-wonderful The Ridiculous 6, and they're set to continue the trend with the bizarrely belated sequel that is Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny. "Nobody saw that coming" is an understatement. Is this an attempt to wrangle more subscribers to the service in Asia, given that Netflix has recently branched out into the territory? Is the film an effort to lure the populace into the fold on the promise of a sequel to one of the continent's most successful pictures? Whatever it is, it ain't timely: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, good a movie as it is, came out a whopping 16 years ago. There was probably nobody on Earth wondering when the next chapter in this wuxia blockbuster was coming out (even if it does star Michelle Yeoh, reprising her role from the original). Even it if turns out to be good - though the trailer doesn't inspire much confidence - it's still an entirely unnecessary movie.
