10 Most Unusual-Looking Actors In Movie History

9. Willem Defoe

Like Jackie Earle Haley, Willem Defoe has also been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor after playing an unusual character. But whereas Haley played a kind of monster you might expect to meet in the real world, Defoe's performance was of a different kind altogether, appearing in Shadow Of The Vampire as the mysterious actor Max Schreck, who portrayed Nosferatu. Willem Defoe is perhaps the most famous odd-looking actor working today, which is hardly surprising when you consider just how many films he's appeared in over the years. His first real breakthrough came in 1986 with the release of Platoon and since then he's featured in everything from Wild At Heart (pictured above) and The English Patient to Spider-Man and John Wick. Defoe is also one of the greatest actors working today, with perhaps his most notable work comes from his collaborations with Wes Anderson, who seems to get what makes Defoe unique better than most.
