at Jake LaMotta. That is the sign of a truly astounding performance. De Niro has also played the young mob boss Vito Corleone in the incredible Godfather sequel, the lonely and depressed Vietnam veteran Travis Bickle in the superb Taxi Driver, steel worker Michael "Mike" Vronsky in an incredibly emotional role in the remarkable The Deer Hunter and the very funny Jack Tiberius Byrnes in the Meet the Parents series, proving he can play a huge variety of roles.
