10 Most Viewed Movie Trailers In First 24 Hours Of Release

10. The Fate Of The Furious Trailer – 139 Million Views

Released in December 2016, it had been two years since the world was given their last Fast and Furious fix. The Fate of the Furious broke the record at the time as the most viewed movie trailer in history, surpassing Disney’s Beauty and the Beast trailer released the month prior. The eighth Fast & Furious title was helped by star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s extensive social media presence hyping it up. It trended huge worldwide afterwards.

This Universal Pictures trailer showed how far the franchise has come from the simplicity of its street racing days, defying logic/physics with the large-scale stunts and incredibly farfetched storylines it pulls off. It once again emphasised the family element to the Fast/Furious series and introduced the world to the criminal mastermind and cyberterrorist villain Cipher (Charlize Theron) and confirmed the return of Kurt Russell as Mr. Nobody. It also promised an electrifying jail sequence between Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw and Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs that would be so popular they would spinoff in their own film Hobbs & Shaw a few years later.

Released the following April, The Fate of the Furious would make $1.2 billion worldwide and is the 19th highest-grossing films of all time.
