10 Most Visually Arresting Moments In The DCEU

3. First Flight - Man Of Steel

Man of Steel was a shaky start for the DCEU, with its relatively radical reinterpretation of Superman receiving wildly mixed reviews. That said, it did have its shining moments, especially with its visual style fortunately doing away with some of Snyder's excesses (that said, the colour grading left a lot to be desired in some scenes).

This is best seen during Superman’s first costumed appearance on screen and his subsequent flight into the skies. Snyder is often accused of trying to find grandeur where there is none, but the shot of the hero emerging from his Fortress is appropriately weighty for a character as iconic as Kal-El.

His subsequent flight is captured in wide angles, giving audiences an idea of his sheer speed and just how much ground (air?) he covers in his first flight.

The movie as a whole may have been solemn to a fault, but this scene's visual splendor and Superman's joy at discovering his most iconic power was a welcome respite and a sign of the movie's true (but frustratingly unrealized) potential.
