4. What Men Want

Mel Gibson comedy What Women Want was a surprisingly entertaining affair given that it was essentially about a misogynist advertising executive who abused the magical ability to read women's minds to "rule the world" as suggested by his female therapist for some reason. It was problematic, but there was just enough of a morality tale in there to balance the doubled-down gender stereotypes and flirtations with nastiness. And it's charming and entertaining to boot.

The fact that it's now inspired a sequel/remake of sorts is... surprising to say the least. Coming in 2019, What Men Want stars Taraji P. Henson as a sports agent who is "constantly boxed out by her male colleagues". But then she gains the power to hear men’s thoughts and uses it to her advantage as she races to sign the NBA’s next big star.

It could be handled very well, but there's also a huge red flag suggesting that the only way a woman could do "a man's job" is by thinking like one. Not entirely sure that's going to be a popular message in 2019, to be honest, no matter how talented the cast.
