10 Movie Actors About To Play Totally Against Type

1. Anthony Michael Hall As An Older Tommy Doyle - Halloween Kills

The upcoming sequel to last year's Halloween is clearly attempting to push some nostalgic buttons, by reintroducing several classic characters from John Carpenter's original 1978 movie.

In addition to Kyle Richards returning to reprise the role of Lindsey Wallace - that's one of the kids babysat by Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) in the original film - she'll be joined by Anthony Michael Hall, who will be playing the other child Laurie babysat, Tommy Doyle, replacing original actor Brian Andrews.

Hall wasn't actually the first choice for the part, as director David Gordon Green originally sought out Paul Rudd, who infamously played a grown-up Tommy in Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers.

But Rudd's schedule shooting Ghostbusters 2020 prevented him from returning, and so Green settled for Hall. Hall's a curious choice given his infrequent forays into the horror genre, being better known for his earlier teen comedies and more recent dramatic roles (namely hit TV series The Dead Zone).

Yet from the few on-set glimpses of the actor released to date, he certainly looks up to the task, regardless of how big or small the role might be.

Hall's an undeniably talented actor capable of slinking into whatever is asked of him, so there's no reason at all to fret about his presence.
