When it comes to bona fide movie legends, Samuel L. Jackson quite rightly sits as one of the biggest stars of all time.

Throwing out iconic performances seemingly with ease, Jackson has become the highest grossing actor ever thanks to his showings in the likes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Nick Fury, Star Wars as Mace Windu, animated greats like The Incredibles as Frozone and various Quentin Tarantino masterpieces.

With this level of success, you have to imagine that whatever the supremely talented actor has been doing up until this point on set has been working for him so far. But, Jackson's tried and tested method can sometimes be a nightmare to deal with for the director behind a feature he is appearing in.

Speaking to CBS, Jackson admitted that he tries to give the audience what he thinks they want. This means that when a director asks him to do something that he doesn't feel works for his character or the movie, he simply will not do it.

In Jackson's own words:

“Some people think that they could overcome it. That, you know, we come to a compromise, you know, and they go, “Look, I get what you’re doin’, and I understand it, but can we try this other thing one– one time?” “No, we can’t, ’cause if I do it one time and it’s on film, and you go to the editing room, that’s the thing you like, that’s the first thing you’re gonna look at, not the logical thing that I did. So let’s just not do what you want to do. So you don’t have that option.”

With his work bringing in $13 billion+ worldwide over the course of his epic career, expect Jackson to keep playing by his own rules and spearheading blockbusters for years to come.
