3. Koba Is Named After Another Revolutionary - Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes

Jack Sparrow Pirates of the Caribbean
Fox

Without a shadow of a doubt, the arc of Koba in the rebooted Planet of the Apes trilogy was one of the most engrossing to have been committed to film in recent memory.

After being liberated during the all-important Ape Rebellion we see go down in Rise, the bonobo goes on to become one of Caesar's committed right hand men, taking up the mantle of commander in the Ape Army. Yet, Koba still harboured a serious hatred for the humans who once abused him, and Caesar's compassion for them slowly led to the ape feeling as though he had no choice but to overthrow the leader he once classed as a brother.

His decision to lead a revolution against the humans, upon framing Caesar's death as a human act through nefarious means, eerily mirrored another infamous revolutionary from real life. Joseph Stalin also had one of his Russian Revolution partners assassinated during his rise, so it'll come as no surprise to hear that the main antagonist from Dawn was christened with the nickname of the man himself - Koba.
