8. Alfrid - The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies
Alfrid is one of the weaseliest characters ever introduced to the cinematic world of Middle-Earth. That is no mean feat for a franchise full of sniveling and cowardly orcs and goblins.
Alfrid's fate in the original film was left ambiguous. It was implied he did a runner with the gold discovered by accident in the ruins of Dale during the final battle, but Alfrid isn't seen again afterward.
Whilst there wouldn't have been many people that fussed about learning his eventual fate, Alfrid did get his comeuppance. In a scene in the extended edition of the film that sees him flung headfirst into the gaping maw of a troll.
Watching a troll choke to death on the man stuck in its throat is neither hilarious nor particularly inventive, even if you do fire him out of a catapult and we can see why it was cut.
