10 Movie Characters Brought Back From The Dead In The Worst Way
6. Davy Jones - Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
There was a time when post-credits scenes were by and large worth sticking around for. Audiences would be treated to one final laugh, or be given a view to what the future held for a certain character or franchise. Now though, it feels that many of these stingers are tacked on to the end of a movie more out of obligation and expectation than anything else.
Too many of them simply don't go anywhere, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is a prime example.
It's no hyperbole to say that Davy Jones is one of the best characters throughout the entire Pirates franchise, and an iconic cinematic villain on the whole. Bill Nighy's character played major roles in both Dead Man's Chest and At World's End, before meeting his demise at the end of the latter. Dead Men Tell No Tales, however, teased his return with a flimsy post-credit sting that has since gone nowhere, and likely never will.
With Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) free of his curse and allowed back on land with Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), his dreams were haunted by Davy Jones. However, as the camera panned across the bedroom, it was revealed that Jones was somehow alive and well, and spoiling for a fight with Turner. By this point, Pirates was a tired franchise, and even the return of its best-ever bad guy wasn't going to save it, particularly when done in such an uninspired way as this.
