10 Movie Characters Cut From Sequels (In The Worst Way)

5. Agent Myers - Hellboy: The Golden Army

In the first Hellboy movie, Agent John Myers was the human in-point for the fantastical story - a surrogate for the audience who ended up being the victim of jokes. He was a useful narrative device more than a fully-fleshed-out character, to be honest, but he didn't return after the first movie.

Why He Was Written Out

Apparently, actor Rupert Evans had scheduling conflicts thanks to his stage work and wasn't able to return for the sequel. He had been cast in a plum role in a stage version of "Kiss of the Spider Woman" in London in 2007.

How He Was Written Out

The way they got rid of him was as simple as it was brutal. According to Liz, the BPRD agent was “transferred to Antarctica” by order of Hellboy, who clearly saw him as a rival. What a way to dismiss a character.
