10 Movie Characters That Were Written Out In Dumb Ways

2. Laurel Weaver - Men In Black II

Dr. Laurel Weaver was a coroner in 1997's Men In Black. Implied to have encountered numerous alien corpses, her memory was often wiped by the organization. Despite this, she still believed in extra-terrestrial lifeforms and sought an escape from her job.

The doctor got her wish when she was captured by Edgar the Bug. Though she was rescued by Agents K and J, Weaver was the one who ultimately killed the villain. At the end of the film, K retired and Laurel was inducted into the MIB. Renamed Agent L, the film ended with her being Agent J's new partner.

But with the success of the first film, Men In Black II sought to reunite Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith. Because of this, Agent L was taken out of the picture. J explained in the film that L missed her old job and so her memory was erased. She then returned to her life in the morgue.

While bringing back the original pairing made sense, Agent L's departure went against her character. For someone who wanted to discover a bigger universe, going back to a mundane life did not make sense.
