2. Missy Armitage Is Being John Malkovich's Maxine Lund - Get Out

The casting of Catherine Keener as the creepy hypnotherapist Missy Armitage in Jordan Peele's Oscar-winning horror film Get Out prompted much speculation from fans that Keener was actually reprising the Maxine Lund role she first played in Being John Malkovich.

Both films of course see Keener playing a manipulator who toys around with the metaphysics of the human mind - in Get Out it's black people, in Being John Malkovich it's...John Malkovich - and the fan theory suggests that Maxine's experiments led to her (somehow) eventually marrying into the Armitage family.

While Being John Malkovich ends with the portal into Malkovich's mind being closed, it's not a major stretch to assume that Maxine would continue to obsessively pursue alternate avenues to experiment, possibly resulting in her lover Lotte's (Cameron Diaz) death, and forcing her to change her name to avoid suspicion.

Furthermore, given that Malkovich protagonist Craig (John Cusack) is trapped within the mind of Maxine's daughter Emily at the end of the movie, that mental dysfunction would perhaps explain how Emily grows up to become Missy's murderous daughter Rose (Allison Williams) in Get Out.

Jordan Peele himself eventually caught wind of the theory and was so amused by it he decided to ascend it to canon status, confirming it to be true.

And even if you insist that it really needs the sign-off from Malkovich director Spike Jonze also, he reportedly laughed when Peele told him about it, so we'll take that as an endorsement.
