1. John Blake ISN'T Robin - The Dark Knight Rises

Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises left fans squabbling over one seemingly ambiguous hanging plot thread during its operatic final sequence, where Gotham PD cop John Blake (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) inherits the Batcave from a fed up Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale).

As Blake collects his loot from the Wayne estate, he gives the clerk a card, who tells him he should use his real name - Robin.

This immediately caused a substantial portion of the audience to assume that Blake was implied to become the next Robin, despite Gotham now being without a Batman and Blake being gifted the entirety of the Batman setup.

Clearly, this was nothing more than a cutesy nod to Blake's role throughout the film as a sidekick-of-sorts to Batman, but the real implication is absolutely that he will take up the Batman mantle in the future.
