10 Movie Characters Who Became Total Caricatures In Sequels

8. The Genie

Freddy Krueger
Disney

Now this might be confusing to some who remember the original and its two sequels, because nothing much seems to change about the Genie on the surface. He still cracks wise, still makes pop culture references, but the sequels lack what made him truly memorable for people.

The Genie didn't just make references for the sake of making them, he used them to help impart important lessons for Aladdin. Look through the jokes, and you find someone who's been around for ten thousand years, and has the wisdom living that long provides.

Such nuance is lost in the sequels. Which would be fine, the sequel films aren't about him like the first one is. But the jokes just aren't that funny, even when they brought back Robin Williams for the third film (though there are some gems scattered throughout).
