There have been plenty of antagonists in the Jurassic Park/Jurassic World franchise over the years, from the likes of Rexy, the Velociraptors, and the Indominus Rex, to human villains like Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight), Vic Hoskins (Vincent D'Onofrio), and Eli Mills (Rafe Spall).

However, no matter what happened, everything always came back to John Hammond (Richard Attenborough). If not for his bright idea to bring dinosaurs back to life, none of the events throughout the entire franchise would have occurred.

When John built his park on Isla Nublar in the first place, he did so with one major ethos, a rule that he repeated throughout the film to a frankly irritating degree. "Spare no expense". Had he actually followed this rule, bringing back extinct dinosaurs still wouldn't have been a good idea, but it certainly may not have been as catastrophic as it ultimately was.

In reality, Hammond spared expense everywhere. He built as much as he could electronically so the park could be run with a skeleton crew, and even the staff he did have there, he underpaid. Most notably, Dennis Nedry, the man whom he relied on for his entire security system, the man whom he neglected to fairly compensate financially, and the man who ultimately betrayed him, leading to the demise of the park and the death of numerous people.
