4. Irving Rosenfeld - American Hustle (2013)

Columbia PicturesChristian Bale has always been known as a chameleonic actor, fully immersing himself into the character and often greatly altering his body for the sake of his craft. While the 40 pound weight gain for the part of Irving Rosenfeld is undeniably impressive, the most startling transformation takes place on his head. American Hustle is a movie stacked with bad haircuts, but Bale's comb-over really takes the biscuit. So important is the character's hair that it even serves as the opening scene of the movie, with Rosenfeld assembling the elaborate comb-over with the precision normally associated with a surgeon carrying out a life-or-death procedure. When the dastardly Bradley Cooper ruffles the carefully-coiffed hairdo out of place, the look of sheer indignation on Bale's face is priceless. Popular movie characters have been known to spark trends, but it would be surprising if anybody had gone down to the barbers and asked for an 'Irving Rosenfeld'.
