10 Movie Characters You Didn't Know Got Away With Breaking Laws

4. Hallie Parker & Annie James - The Parent Trap

The Parent Trap
Disney

The Parent Trap is a light hearted comedy starring a very young Lindsay Lohan, which follows two young girls who are made to attend a summer camp by their parents. They soon discover that they are in fact twins and that their parents had had an acrimonious divorce and split the two when they were very young. They formulate a plan whereby the two girls will swap identities to get to know the opposing parent.

One could delve into the despicable, unethical actions of a mother and father that thought it was a good idea to split their twin babies up and to live on opposing continents. Instead, the legal concern must be taken up with the twins themselves.

As Hallie is entering the United Kingdom with use of Annie’s British passport, she is in breach of section 3 of the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act 1981, which strictly prohibits the using of another’s identity to gain entry into the United Kingdom. While her intentions may have been to reunite her broken family, she’s still in breach of British immigration law.
