10 Movie Characters You Didn't Know Got Away With Breaking Laws
3. Michael J. ‘Crocodile’ Dundee - Crocodile Dundee
Crocodile Dundee was an easy-going action comedy straight out of the eighties which just oozed loveable cheesiness. The film follows Mick Dundee, otherwise known as Crocodile Dundee who becomes the focus of journalist Sue Charlton due to a rumour that he supposedly had his leg bitten off by a crocodile and was forced to crawl many miles to find help.
The reality is that his leg was severely scarred, so to make a better story the pair embark on a journey through the outback together. The chemistry continues to grow between the two, which leads Sue to invite Crocodile Dundee to New York so that she may continue her feature on him there. The film progresses without incident until the infamous ‘That’s not a knife’ scene. And that's where the Law gets involved.
It may have garnered laughter from many moviegoers, but it’s likely few from the New York Police Department would find it quite as funny. This is because only US citizens are legally allowed to carry around a weapon in public according to the New York Penal Law. Mr Dundee may be a loveable Ozzie from the Outback, but the law is still the law.
Real questions must also be asked about where he concealed the weapon to get it past customs too.
