10 Movie Directors Who Somehow Convinced Themselves They Can Act

6. John Waters

John WatersPreferred Acting Style: John Waters John Waters is obviously one of the best and most interesting human beings alive today, because - let's face it - he's both incredibly intelligent and insanely nuts, and that's probably the best combination available to a person. Aside from making a bunch of cool movies over the course of his career, he's also also renowned for just popping up in stuff, most in cameo roles, but occasionally in larger parts that prove he really isn't a great actor. And look: I know John Waters being cast in anything means that he's just there to be John Waters, but there are a few roles under this man's belt where he genuinely looks to be trying to act - take Woody Allen's Sweet and Lowdown, for example, where he has a fairly large part. It's not that he's terrible, it's just that he's John Waters. If you want to cast a creepy character with a pencil moustache, he's your man. If your man also has to be bad at acting, of course.
