The Easter Egg

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is jam-packed with more sly Easter eggs than just about any movie in recent memory, though surely one of the most memorable has to be the quick mention of Spider-Man recording a Christmas album, A Very Spidey Christmas.

If you stick around for the film's end credits, you'll even hear Chris Pine - who plays one of the film's several Peter Parkers - singing the tune "Spidey-Bells."

And better yet? Sony actually went to the effort of commissioning and releasing a five-track EP, with songs recorded by Shameik Moore (Miles Morales), Jake Johnson (Peter B. Parker) and Jorma Taccone (Green Goblin). Amazing.

The Story

The whole Christmas album skit was added late in production when the filmmakers were in London supervising the completion of the film's musical score.

One of the team had the lightbulb idea to compose a holiday track, and when writer-producer Phil Lord asked Chris Pine if he could sing - having apparently not seen the actor in Into the Woods - Pine replied, "Are you kidding me?", before launching into a sing-song.

The stunned producers and directors immediately set in motion plans for not just the gag but what would eventually become the actual EP.
