The Easter Egg

If you keep your eyes very, very peeled during the final battle of Avengers: Endgame, you might spot a special figure among the impossibly huge army battling Thanos (Josh Brolin).

That's right, Howard the Duck is visible amid the heroes for a hot-second, totting a machine-gun and seemingly confirming his status as an Avenger.

This follows the Marvel character's two prior appearances in both Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and serves as an hilarious pay-off to his most unexpected three-movie "arc."

The Story

Given the utterly insane amount of work that clearly went into Endgame's final battle, it's not terribly surprising that something as frivolous as a Howard the Duck cameo wasn't added until the very end of production.

Co-director Joe Russo said of Howard's appearance, "It was one of the last things we did. We were sitting at VFX, and I was watching that shot of everyone coming out of the portals, and I was like, god it would be so awesome to have a Howard the Duck cameo here. And I said to the VFX team, is there any way in hell you could pull this off?"

And that they clearly did, though with Howard's cameo being so fleeting on the big screen, we won't get a proper look at him until Endgame hits Disney+ later this year.
