10 Movie Easter Eggs You Never Spotted

7. Coco - Redrum

Joker Batman The Blue Boy
Pixar

In this list's introduction, we briefly mentioned a famous connection between the adorable family-friendly Pixar film Toy Story and Kubrick's terrifying adaptation of The Shining. In fact, the connection between Pixar and The Shining goes a lot deeper. And for this we can thank self-declared Shining mega-fan Lee Unkirch, who's been including references to the chilling tale in all of his Pixar films.

As well as Toy Story, Unkirch (who also runs a Shining blog) has included nods to the horror in both Toy Story 3 and Finding Nemo, too. Most recently, the filmmaker added three more to the collection in Coco.

Surprisingly, though, nobody seemed to notice them with Unkirch having to hint about their locations prior to the film's home release. Two are relatively easy to spot: one being Jack Torrance's axe in a tree stump next to a sleeping Dante; the second: a picture of the Grady twins in the background of the rehearsal scene. But the third was a lot trickier to spot.

In the same shot as the axe, the director hinted to look to the object's left. What's there? A red drum. Get it? Redrum. Very clever, Mr Unkrich.
