10 Movie Endings That Are Secretly Depressing
4. Incredibles 2
Plot:
Incredibles 2 takes place immediately after the first movie ended. Set in a world where superheroes were made illegal 15 years ago, a family who all has powers struggle to pretend to be normal.
In this action-packed comedic adventure Elastigirl is recruited to help fight crime and change public opinion about heroes. Her family ends up joining in the action and the movie ends with a judge declaring heroes now legal.
But Wait...
Hiding superpowers is a terrible burden we see the kids carry. Having to lie about who they are is painful. At the end of the movie, nothing has really changed. They still have to lie about who they are. As supers, if any villain finds out about their secret identity it could be life-ending to their non-super loved ones.
Even the idea of the Incredible kids getting to fight crime as their true selves is only a beautiful thing in a certain light. Dash is 10-years old, his brother is a baby. It's one thing for children to defend themselves against an attack that just happens, it's another for actual children to be asked by their parents to work as violent soldiers in a war on crime.
I'm just saying, there's no guarantee Violet, Dash and Jack aren't going to be just like the Umbrella Academy siblings when they grow up.
