10 Movie Endings That Leave More Questions Than Answers
5. Nope
It's a known fact that Jordan Peele loves a good twist in his films, but Nope seemed to be the exception as it followed a black-owned Hollywood ranch being terrorised by a giant alien spaceship that is sucking up and eating their horses.
However, as the movie plays on, we discover that it's not an alien spaceship, but the ship is the alien itself. Otis Jr. Haywood and his sister Emerald attempt to take down the alien with the help of a local electronics store employee and an overly-obsessed cinematographer who wants to catch the 'impossible shot.'
At first, Emerald wanted to capture an image of the alien so she and her bother could send it to the media, gaining money and fame for being the first people to capture a clear-cut picture of alien life, calling it the 'Oprah shot.'
However, plans quickly change as the alien becomes aggressive and eats up 40 people in a local amusement park. At the end of the film, the team were able to defeat the alien, with Emerald able to get their 'Oprah shot' at the very last second.
The film ends with police arriving at the scene and Emerald looking at her brother. But what happened after? Did they send their 'Oprah' photo to the media? Did they ever explain the disappearances of the other people to the press? Does anyone believe their story? These questions are left unanswered by the end of the film.
