10 Movie Facts You Probably Don’t Know

6. Almost The Entire Film Was Shot In The Czech Republic - EuroTrip

EuroTrip is one of the more entertaining sex comedies of the 2000s, and though the globetrotting romp ventures from the U.S. to the U.K., France, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Germany, and Italy, almost the entirety of it was actually filmed in the Czech Republic.

In order to keep costs down, the $25 million comedy was primarily shot in Prague, with locations being cleverly re-dressed or altered with CGI to resemble other countries.

The Ohio high school depicted early in the film, for instance, was actually the International School of Prague, and for the third act set in Vatican City, Prague's National Museum was repurposed.

For the many money shots which show iconic landmarks, such as London's Big Ben and Paris' Eiffel Tower, they were integrated into Prague locations with some impressively sly visual effects.

The Prague shoot is also how Matt Damon was able to appear in the film for his iconic cameo, as he was shooting the Terry Gilliam film The Brothers Grimm in the city at the time, and was old college friends with EuroTrip's trio of writers, so agreed to play the part.

Ultimately only one scene was filmed outside of Prague - the infamous nude beach sequence. Due to Prague being a landlocked country with no beaches, the production went to the German city of Rostock to shoot it.

Otherwise, the entire thing was filmed in a single country, which is impressive considering how well it generally passes the sniff test - unless you're a Prague local, at least.
