10 Movie Fan Theories The Creators Completely Rejected

6. Batman V Superman/Suicide Squad

The Theory: It was a battered Robin suit in a trailer for Batman v Superman that originally sparked this idea into existence, and then, when the first images of Jared Leto’s Joker surfaced online - complete with marks on his shoulders that perfectly aligned with bullet holes in the aforementioned suit - the Internet was convinced that the DCEU’s Joker was none other than Jason Todd.

The pieces seemed to fit. Robin hadn't been killed by Joker, he'd become Joker, and was using his brand-new alias to get back at Batman, who he blamed for his downfall.

Many assumed this would be revealed in Suicide Squad, and even though it wasn't, fans still held out hope.

The Rejection: But as good as this theory was, it was quashed in an instant by Suicide Squad director David Ayer in an interview promoting the film.

The director literally points at the camera and says "it ain't the case, he's not", when talking about whether or not Joker was Jason Todd, following on from his previous comment that indicated he thought the whole theory was completely ridiculous.

On that day, there was a great disturbance in the fanboy force.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
